about

Skull Fork is an all-inclusive music initiative guided by disability support worker Sam Haycroft of Scope in San Remo, Victoria. Although Sam leads the rock band project, like any band, it's pretty much "herding stray cats" into something resembling a rock band.

All aspects of being in a band are facilitated as part of the project: performing/busking, music production and recording, marketing/promotion via social media and merchandising, and the all important band management details like bookings, logistics and financial. All this provides for the total train-wreck band experience.

Every band member gets to participate according to their interests and are actively supported to do so, providing a fantastic experience that has lead to much personal growth, skill development, increased confidence and engagement with Scope, each other and the wider community as individual members and the band (team) as a whole.

The decision making about band activities, gigs/performances and fund raising is democratic and by consensus. The band members came up with the band name "Skull Fork" and the logo/artwork. The band has produced its own merchandising for sale such as T-shirts, guitar picks and fridge magnets that raises money for its activities like touring to play events and recording equipment for music production.

Skull Fork busk every Thursday on the streets and in some cafes of Cowes on Phillip Island, Victoria. They recently melted faces off at the Gippsland Eisteddfod in Warragul, blasted open the doors of the new Bass CoastLife Choices office in San Remo, bowled a perfect 300 riff strike at the Bowlopolis Gala in Cowes, tore the roof off The Castle in Dandenong for the InterGreat Freeza gig and destroyed the rider of free snags at the "Fun in the Park" event in Wonthaggi. There's rumblings of an annual appearance at the Biyadin Shearwater Festival in Cowes and regular opening slots at the Westernport Hotel for local bands! Other more extensive touring such as opening for I am Duckeye and Pegbucket in Melbourne and Wetlands in Sydney are in the works for the near future!

The band does all their own work; recording, editing, producing and manufacturing their own music that's then released by MGM. They also shoot photos and film videos for social media and appear in the local newspapers all the time!

Stay tuned to Skull Fork via their Facebook Page and Instagram where they regularly update and promote their gigs, activities and mayhem! CHECK IT OUT!!!
